Firstly he performed in the Scottish opera The Trojans, and then he acted in another Scottish opera, Carmen, at the Covent Garden Royal Opera House. In 2001, he appeared in the British talent competition, PopStars and got fame as Darius Danesh. He started composing his own single in 2002, and his first written single was released on July 29, 2002, titled, Colourblind, which reached first position on the UK Singles Chart.

In 2004, he released his debut studio album, Dive In, which certified Platinum and ranked at no.6 on the UK Albums chart. This album contains 12 songs, all he wrote himself, and one of them, Better Than That, he produced alongside other producers. After that, he wrote his second studio album, Live Twice, and dedicated it to his father, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
