In 1966, he played for two class A teams with the Broncs only for 12 games, then 56 games with Modesto in the California League, where he hit 21 homers. The Athletics moved west to be based in Oakland in 1968; Jackson hit 47 home runs in 1969 and was briefly ahead of the peace of Babe Ruth when he set the previous record of 60 in 1927.
