Lorenzen Wright married Sherra Robinson, and they had seven children together, including four sons and three daughters. Their children’s names are Lorenzen Wright Jr., Lamar Wright, Shamar Wright, Lawson Wright, Sofia Wright, Loren Wright, and Sierra Wright. But their one 11-month-old daughter, Sierra Simone Wright, died in March 2003. Then Wright established a scholarship fund after the death of his infant daughter. Their family broke up when they divorced in 2010.

In the NBA 1996 draft, Wright was selected as the seventh overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers out of the University of Memphis. He played for the Clippers for three seasons before being traded to the Atlanta Hawks, who moved to Atlanta Hawks in 1999. During the 2000-2001 NBA season, he averaged a career-high 12.4 points per game with them. 

On June 27, 2001, he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, and he scored 20 points and grabbed rebounds in a 106-102 win over the New Orleans Hornets. He went on to play with Sacramento Kings in 2008 and the Cleveland Cavaliers in ( 2008-2009). Also, he was involved in a multiplayer trade going from Atlanta to Sacramento. He appeared in 15 playoff games, including three postseason runs with Memphis from 2004 to 2006.

It was later revealed that his cell phone dialled 911 hours after he went missing, and a recording with the dispatcher picked up gunshots. 

Wright’s ex-wife, Sherra Wright Robinson, was arrested in Riverside, California, in connection with the murder on December 15, 2017. His ex-wife pleaded guilty to killing Lorenzen in July 2019.
