Parsons professionally started his career in Basketball when he was drafted 38th overall by the Houston Rockets in the 2011 NBA Draft. During the 2011 NBA lockout, he played three games with France team Cholet Basket. Then, on December 18, 2011, he signed a contract with the Houston Rockets, and in the season finale, he scored 23 points against the Miami Heat. he was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team for this season. 

On July 10, 2014, he received a three-year $46 million contract from Dallas Mavericks and signed with them on July 15. Parsons scored a season-high 32 points against the Detroit Pistons on December 17, 2014. After 2014 to 2016 with the Dallas Mavericks, he moved to play with Memphis Grizzlies; he signed a four-year $94 million contract with the Memphis Grizzlies on July 7, 2016. He made his debut for the Grizzlies against the Portland Trail Blazers on November 6.
